If you thought Olandria Carthen’s Naomi Campbell tribute was stunning, you might want to sit down for this one. She may have just delivered the best unofficial superhero audition of 2026 with her jaw-dropping Halloween transformation into DC Comics’ Vixen, unveiled in a photoshoot captioned “Happy Olaween.”
Wearing Vixen’s signature red-and-orange bodysuit, Olandria posed against a dramatic rocky backdrop featuring a lion. The styling, lighting and attention to detail made the photographs look like promotional images for an upcoming superhero film. Her remarkable transformation also appears to have caught the attention of a particularly influential figure at DC Studios.

Screenshots show DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn liking an X post featuring Olandria’s Vixen costume. Although Gunn has not announced any casting plans, his apparent interest has added to the excitement surrounding her transformation.
Now, that is interesting. Olandria’s costume quickly attracted attention across social media, with comic book enthusiasts praising her interpretation of the character and suggesting she could portray Vixen in a future DC production.

For anyone unfamiliar with the character, Vixen is Mari McCabe, a DC superhero who channels the abilities of animals through a magical artefact called the Tantu Totem.
She can summon the strength of a gorilla, the speed of a cheetah and the flight of a bird. She is also a fashion model, making Olandria’s interpretation particularly fitting.
DC announced Vixen’s first ongoing solo comic series in July 2026, demonstrating renewed interest in the character. I would love to see DC build on that momentum by bringing Vixen to the big screen or giving her a prominent role in the new DC Universe.
Olandria has the striking presence, confidence and modelling experience to make Mari McCabe visually convincing. Her costume also highlights something I appreciate: Black women celebrating Black superheroes who deserve far greater recognition. We need more of that.
Of course, looking spectacular in a costume does not automatically establish someone’s acting ability. But that is precisely why auditions exist. And with James Gunn reportedly taking notice, perhaps Olandria deserves an opportunity to demonstrate what she can do.
She has already proven she can capture Vixen’s appearance. Now give her the chance to prove she can embody the character. DC Studios, the casting suggestion is right there.
