Celebrity Halloween has become its own awards season, and 2026 gave us everything from fashion history and horror-film deep cuts to full prosthetic insanity.

Some celebrities simply put on a costume. Others clearly arrived with references, mood boards and something to prove. Here are the looks we loved most.

Zendaya as Halle Berry

Zendaya and Law Roach understood the assignment perfectly. For Halloween, Zendaya recreated Halle Berry’s unforgettable Lanvin look from the 2000 X-Men premiere, complete with the printed bikini top, low-rise trousers and Berry-inspired pixie cut. Even better, Law reportedly secured the Lanvin look itself for the recreation.

Halle Berry’s verdict was only two words: “She won.”

Correct. There is something especially satisfying about seeing one generation of Black Hollywood glamour deliberately honour another. Zendaya did not treat the original look like an old costume. She treated it like fashion history.

Megan Thee Stallion as Dracula’s Brides

Megan Thee Stallion went full gothic fantasy, transforming into one of Dracula’s Brides and captioning the look, “If you love this movie we can definitely be friends.” Her recreation immediately became one of the standout horror references of the weekend.

This is exactly the kind of Halloween energy we want from Megan. Beautiful, theatrical, slightly terrifying and committed to the bit.

Olandria Carthen as Naomi Campbell

Olandria Carthen went directly to the supermodel archives, recreating Naomi Campbell’s “Seeing Spots” editorial photographed by Peter Lindbergh for American Vogue in 1990. She captioned her tribute, “Inspired by an icon, Campbell x Carthen.”

This was not just dressing up as Naomi. Olandria chose a very specific fashion image and recreated the mood behind it. That attention to detail is what makes a celebrity homage work.

Gabourey Sidibe as Drake

Gabourey Sidibe might have had the funniest costume of the year. After the internet compared Drake’s viral 40th birthday outfit to Gabby’s style, she decided to take control of the joke and simply became Drake herself.

She appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show in his black outfit, caramel fringe shawl and fake beard, announcing, “I’m Drake leaving his 40th bday party.” That is how you handle a meme. Participate, exaggerate it and make yourself the funniest person in the room.

Kerry Washington as Jane Fonda

Kerry Washington went retro, recreating Jane Fonda’s iconic 1980s fitness-video era and posting the perfect caption: “Jane Fonda but make it Black.”

It was instantly recognisable without feeling overworked, and there is something very Kerry about choosing a costume that is glamorous, nostalgic and a little political at the same time. Washington’s Fonda tribute was among the celebrity looks highlighted across this year’s Halloween coverage.

Sabrina Carpenter as Penny Pingleton

Sabrina Carpenter reached back to Hairspray, dressing as Penny Pingleton and captioning her costume, “oh seaweed you do care.”

It was cute, clever and perfectly suited to Sabrina’s entire aesthetic. The nostalgic film reference was also confirmed among this year’s standout celebrity costumes.
