Well, it finally happened. Jersey Shore star DJ Pauly D, 46, proposed to Nikki Hall, 34, on Sunday, Sept. 27, after six years together. The proposal went down at Omnia Dayclub in Las Vegas, where Pauly got down on one knee in front of a crowd while Nikki looked genuinely stunned. After she said yes, Bruno Mars’ “Marry You” played and signs reading “Congratulations on the engagement, yeah buddy!” appeared in the club. Very Pauly.

The two met on MTV’s Double Shot at Love in 2019. Pauly actually left the first season single, but he and Nikki eventually reconnected away from the cameras and built a relationship that survived reality television, quarantine and approximately eight thousand years of people asking when he was going to propose.  

So yes, the dominant reaction has basically been: FINALLY.

That feels fair. Six years is not an outrageous amount of time to date before getting engaged, but Pauly and Nikki have been very publicly committed for so long that a wedding started to feel less like a question of “if” and more like “sir, are we ever getting there?”

The best reaction, naturally, came from Vinny Guadagnino. Pauly’s longtime partner in GTL crime posted an AI-generated video of himself standing sadly in the rain while Pauly and Nikki celebrated inside and wrote, “I’m not OK.” He did eventually congratulate them, but please respect his privacy during this difficult time.  

And honestly, I like these two together. Nikki always seemed to bring out a softer, less permanent-frat-house version of Pauly. Their relationship has also endured some absolutely unhinged fan hostility over the years, which makes the fact that they are still standing, and now engaged, feel satisfying.

So congratulations to Nikki and Pauly. She got the ring. Vinny survived. And yes, Pauly still has the hair. Some commitments really are forever.
