So apparently, Prince William is feeling “deeply betrayed” because his brother might be coming to the UK with his wife and children. For a trip about the Invictus Games. Not a family reunion. Not a reconciliation tour. Just… charity work. And yet, here we are.

Because here’s the thing, for years we’ve been told by the British media that the Sussexes are irrelevant and that the Wales family are the future. Nobody should care about Prince Harry and Meghan Sussex anymore. And yet, the moment there’s a whisper that Meghan and the kids might set foot on British soil, the royal rota are crashing out like it’s the end of the world.

If they’re so irrelevant, why is everyone losing their minds?

Prince William feels “deeply betrayed” and is “unlikely” to meet with Prince Harry and Meghan Sussex when they make their trip to the UK in July, a royal commentator has suggested….

According to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, beyond the charitable visits, the “plan seems to be clear” for Harry’s upcoming trip.

He said: “They want the King to attend the opening of the Invictus Games in Birmingham next year, perhaps to actually open it, very possibly with Queen Camilla attending too. This will obviously present problems. The King will naturally want to see his grandchildren in July and may well see them all.”

“It’s a trap of sorts, but of course it’s a legitimate one. It is, in reality, a gigantic publicity stunt,” he added.

On the other hand, the commentator conceded that William “is unlikely” to have the desire to meet his brother.

The brothers have had a longstanding feud which shows no sign of ending, even though Harry is believed to be seeking a closer relationship with his family for the sake of his young children, who have no relationship with their cousins.

Mr Fitzwilliams also feels closer ties with the Royal Family would only benefit the Sussexes.

He continued: “Since their only claim to fame is their links with the monarchy, it would be of enormous benefit to them to have cordial relations after they brutally savaged the royals on Oprah, the Netflix series and his memoir Spare.

“William reportedly feels deeply betrayed. The King is rumoured to be more emollient.

“Much of this will be played out in public, the issue is one of trust and the Sussexes simply cannot appreciate the need for privacy in what appears to be their desire to have closer relations with the family they so publicly betrayed.”

The “Betrayal” Narrative Doesn’t Hold Up

William has occupied the role of heir his entire life, with Harry positioned as the secondary figure, expected to absorb negative attention when needed. When Harry chose to leave, seek therapy, and build an independent life, this disrupted a long-established dynamic. The issue appears to be about loss of control over a sibling who no longer adheres to family expectations.

The suggestion that the Sussexes’ “only claim to fame is their links with the monarchy” is demonstrably false. Meghan Markle had an established acting career and international platform long before her marriage, a fanbase she built entirely on her own merit. Unlike Kate Middleton, who spent nearly a decade as the on-off girlfriend known derisively as “Waity Katie” before securing her royal position, Meghan was not introduced to the world through her association with a prince. She arrived with her own achievements, her own following, and her own identity.

And according to Spare, William and Kate were even fans of Meghan’s work until she became engaged to Harry, at which point the dynamic shifted. That tells you everything you need to know about who felt threatened by whom.

Harry was born into this system without choice. He did not request the “spare” role, yet bore its consequences for decades. The framing of Harry’s UK visit as a “publicity stunt” ignores the genuine purpose: the Invictus Games, a charitable event supporting wounded veterans. Harry is attending for his work, not reconciliation.

Ultimately, I’m not looking forward to the coming weeks becuase the British media will inundate us with these kinds of stories because the “working royals” can only claim relevance when it’s in opposition to the Sussex family and their work.
