Zendaya has entered her 30s with the kind of year most actors only dream about. In 2026 alone, she has led an A24 hit, starred in two of the year’s biggest films, returned to Euphoria with another Emmy nomination, married longtime partner Tom Holland—and still has Dune: Part Three waiting in December.

Happy birthday, indeed.

From Disney Channel to Blockbuster Queen

Zendaya first became a household name through Disney Channel shows including Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover. But what followed was no overnight reinvention; it was a carefully built career that has now placed her at the centre of Hollywood’s biggest franchises.

This year alone, she appeared in Kristoffer Borgli’s dark romantic comedy The Drama opposite Robert Pattinson. The A24 film earned about $132.5 million worldwide, an impressive result for a film far outside the superhero space.

Then came Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Zendaya joined an ensemble cast that included Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o and Robert Pattinson as Athena. The film has now passed $1.5 billion worldwide, making it Nolan’s highest-grossing film ever.

But even that was followed by something bigger.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day reunited Zendaya with Tom Holland and quickly became the year’s dominant box-office success. By the end of August, the film had earned more than $2.3 billion worldwide, climbing to fourth place among the highest-grossing films of all time.

Taken together, those films have put Zendaya at the centre of several billion dollars in theatrical business—all in a matter of months.

Her Biggest Year Yet

The scale of Zendaya’s 2026 is even more striking when you consider where she began. The Spider-Man films gave her a global franchise. Euphoria established her as a dramatic actor and made her the youngest winner of the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Dune moved her further into prestige blockbuster territory.

Now those strands of her career are converging. This year she returned as Rue Bennett for Euphoria and received her third nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The Television Academy lists Zendaya as a six-time Emmy nominee and two-time winner, with her 2026 nomination giving her another chance to win the category she previously took home in 2020 and 2022.

Whatever viewers thought about the direction of Euphoria itself (and we had plenty of criticism), Zendaya’s performance remained one of the season’s most recognised elements.

Her Leading Man

Her professional milestones came alongside an equally significant personal one.

After years of keeping their relationship largely private, Tom Holland confirmed in June that he and Zendaya had married. The confirmation arrived in characteristically understated fashion: while discussing AI-generated wedding photographs that had circulated online, Holland revealed that his family knew the pictures were fake because they had actually attended the real wedding.

He offered few additional details but spoke warmly about their relationship, describing Zendaya as his best friend and saying he had found his person.

The couple first met while working on Spider-Man: Homecoming. Their friendship eventually became a relationship, followed by an engagement and now marriage—all while both became two of the most recognisable actors of their generation.

That they have managed to keep so much of that relationship away from the cameras is perhaps one of the most impressive parts of the story.

Zendaya Is Already Looking Beyond 2026

Zendaya has maintained a comparatively private personal life while becoming more powerful professionally. She has moved between franchise films, prestige television, independent cinema and fashion without allowing herself to become confined to one version of stardom.

And the wins keep coming. She has already been cast as Felicia, the daughter of Shrek and Fiona, in Shrek 5, arriving in July 2027. She also remains attached to Be My Baby, the long-developed Ronnie Spector biopic in which she will portray the legendary Ronettes singer.

So when Zendaya jokes that she hopes audiences do not get sick of seeing her before she takes a well-earned break, the box office suggests she has little to worry about. People clearly still want more Zendaya, respectfully, of course.

What’s Next

Zendaya already has three major theatrical releases behind her this year, but her calendar still has another blockbuster. She returns as Chani in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, scheduled for December 18. The film reunites her with Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Javier Bardem and other returning cast members, while Robert Pattinson joins the franchise as Scytale.

At 30, she already has two Emmys, multiple billion-dollar franchises and some of Hollywood’s most sought-after filmmakers on her résumé. She is married to the man she met while both were still becoming household names, and several of her biggest projects may still be ahead of her.

If her twenties were about proving how far she could go beyond Disney Channel, her thirties are beginning with very little left for her to prove.
