Copperhead Brings Together Jason Momoa, Tenoch Huerta, Miles Teller and Kiefer Sutherland

Miles Teller is getting some serious company in Copperhead. Deadline reports that Jason Momoa, Tenoch Huerta, Adria Arjona and Kiefer Sutherland have joined Teller in the upcoming thriller, giving the project a heavyweight cast ahead of production this September.

Directed by John Swab from a script by Chad Feehan and J. Todd Scott, Copperhead follows a veteran detective and a young federal agent as they investigate a conspiracy inside an elite task force after a violent undercover drug deal in West Texas. Black Label Media is financing and producing the film alongside companies connected to Teller and Swab.

The casting news lands just before the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, where Black Bear is expected to launch international sales for the project. With production due to begin in September and a cast that now spans action, prestige television and major studio franchises, Copperhead is quickly shaping up as one of the more notable thrillers heading into production this autumn.

Venice prize-winner John Swab is set to direct from a script by Chad Feehan and J. Todd Scott, with production kicking off in September. The project is financed by Black Label Media, which is producing alongside Teller’s Lime Tree Productions and Swab’s Milk Boy. CAA Media Finance and WME Independent are co-repping domestic rights.

The casting alone makes Copperhead sound like someone quietly assembled a superhero reunion and dropped everyone into a West Texas crime thriller.

Jason Momoa played Aquaman, Tenoch Huerta brought Namor to the MCU, and Miles Teller previously played Reed Richards in Fantastic Four. Then you add Kiefer Sutherland, forever associated with Jack Bauer, and suddenly this supposed police thriller starts looking like one of the strangest ensemble casts of the year.

There is also a good reason to take the project seriously beyond the names attached. Black Label Media, one of the companies behind Sicario, is producing, which immediately raises expectations for something darker and more intense than a standard drug-bust movie.

Either way, Copperhead has already achieved one thing before cameras even start rolling: it has people talking about the cast.
