This is an English translation of Tenoch Huerta’s interview with the news agency Delarosatv on August 20, 2024. Here at Femingra, we understand that Tenoch has international fans who may face language barriers, so we’ve translated the interview for you. In this revealing conversation, Huerta speaks publicly for the first time about the social media accusations made against him by his former girlfriend. The interview touches on the emotional toll, professional setbacks, and the legal measures Huerta has taken in response to the situation.

Interviewer: “Hey Tenoch, I was reading in a note that came out today about the emotions that you are suffering from after watching this movie. Does it feel distressing like in the movie?”

Tenoch Huerta: “Certainly, they are comparable situations… it is what happens to the characters in the movie, what they suffer and… being in a situation of a type of blackmail on a personal level is something that really hits you. And gosh, if I am honest with you, right now that I am with you, after not giving interviews in more than a year, I feel like, you know… something does break inside you. Like… there is fear, there are insecurities, and there are many things that are hurting you and everyone around you.”

Interviewer: “How has this affected you?”

Tenoch Huerta: “Well, it has affected me from the work side, from job losses… they judged me without anything, you know? There’s nothing. If you ask the courts, I don’t even have a traffic violation, and hearsay on social media is capable of destroying your life.”

“I lost jobs, I’ve lost friends, my family has been very hurt, my family has been very affected. And well, there are people that you always have… well, all my life I’ve tried to support them… to use what I’ve done and the position of power that I’m in to be able to help and talk about other issues. And at the end of the day, these people are still here. But definitely, the power of a lie can destroy and it can incinerate you, and it can tear you down.”

Interviewer: “How did you respond to the situation?”

Tenoch Huerta: “Well, you want to go out and say, ‘Hey, things aren’t like that, they’re another way,’ but then the circumstances… how do you begin with confronting a person with so much media power? I don’t belittle her fight, on the contrary, it is extremely important. That fight is representing a lot of people.”

“To be honest, when all this happened, I thought that on the third day there was going to be an ‘I’m sorry… it was an emotional outburst.’ I know this person, I accompanied her during part of her process, and I know that she has suffered a lot emotionally. That’s why I didn’t give it too much importance or the importance that it needed (at first).”

“My team of lawyers took the necessary legal measures. It is not a lawsuit or an accusation, but they are necessary legal measures… they are like locks, protections… because, well, I had already received some threats from this person. Almost two years ago, I received threats due to her situation and emotional state.”

“That’s why I said, ‘OK, maybe it’s kind of the same thing, right?’ But well, later it wasn’t like that. It seems like… well, mental health is important, right? I think it’s important to go to psychologists, to lawyers, to psychiatrists. Go with people who are experts.”

Interviewer: “You mentioned receiving threats. How did that affect your actions?”

Tenoch Huerta: “Well, during the beginning of the year, I received some very intimidating messages, and that made us also take a step back and say, ‘That’s enough.’”

Interviewer: “What measures did the authorities take?”

Tenoch Huerta: “See, my lawyers made moves and arrangements with the authorities. I tell you, it doesn’t amount to a lawsuit or anything like that. They’re just like… I don’t know, it’s called a deed of faith or something like that. I don’t have the name of it clearly… what the process is. My lawyers are the ones who know more because it’s an issue that has to do with terms that could affect certain processes.”

Interviewer: “Excuse me, one last thing: Your agenda in the United States is starting up again? Are you seeing these invitations again, things that may have been pending?”

Tenoch Huerta: “My career was affected, but it’s going… well, I don’t know what’s going to happen. That doesn’t depend on me anymore. Let’s hope that everything goes forward. And well… nothing, just always supporting the people, supporting everyone in their processes in one way or another. It’s like taking this flight again, right? Little by little, step by step.”

“My boss is calling me, thank you.”

Interviewer: “Are you going to make a movie?”

Tenoch Huerta: “Pedro Páramo will be released in March, in September! Sorry, we’ll go to Toronto first, and then we’ll be in the living rooms, haha. They’re kicking me out, sorry.”

This interview offers a rare glimpse into Tenoch Huerta’s ongoing struggles, as he candidly addresses the impact of social media accusations on his career, personal life, and mental health. Despite these challenges, Huerta remains focused on rebuilding his career step by step, with upcoming projects like Pedro Páramo giving him hope for the future.
