Prince Harry has once again proved that few royals handle public mishaps with as much charm, or comedic timing. During a CTV News interview in Toronto, the Duke of Sussex issued a tongue-in-cheek apology to Canadians for what he called “Hat-gate,” his recent World Series appearance in an LA Dodgers cap.
A Royal Apology With a Twist
Grinning throughout, Harry confessed that he had been “under duress” when spotted wearing Dodgers blue, claiming the team owner invited him to their dugout and offered the hat. “I was doing what I thought was the polite thing,” he said, before flashing a Blue Jays cap to camera. “I’m wearing this from now on so I don’t make any more mistakes.”
The playful mea culpa quickly went viral on X, racking up thousands of views in under an hour. Canadians, initially mock-offended, seemed to embrace his humor. “All is forgiven, Your Baldness,” one fan joked, referencing his next quip, an admission that he took the hat partly because “when you’re missing a lot of hair and sitting under floodlights, you’ll take any hat that’s available.”
Harry’s remarks struck an especially nostalgic note in Canada, where his Invictus Games first launched in 2017 and where he and Meghan Sussex famously made their first public appearance together. With a Blue Jays hat now firmly on his head, his apology played as both clever diplomacy and self-mockery. “Now that I’ve said this,” he laughed, “it’s going to be hard for me to return to Los Angeles.”

The episode underscores Harry’s growing comfort in the public eye outside royal confines. A minor fashion faux pas, magnified by social media, became a showcase of personality. Rather than issuing a stiff statement, Harry leaned in with wit and candor, defusing any sense of scandal.
The Duke closed by lamenting the Blue Jays’ playoff exit, saying, “Devastated that they lost, but go Jays.” It was the perfect blend of charm, humor, and humility, the kind that reminds both fans and critics why, even in baseball drama, Harry knows how to hit a home run.
