Letitia Wright’s directorial debut, Highway to the Moon, continues its remarkable run on the festival circuit. The film has already played at the British Urban Film Festival, South London Film Festival, and HollyShorts. Now, it has officially joined the 2025 BFI London Film Festival lineup. Wright could not hide her joy when she shared the news on Instagram, smiling widely in a video post. She admitted through tears that she wanted to “encourage you to go for it, believe in yourself.”
Best Director at S.O.U.L Fest
Wright’s emotional celebration came just after she earned the Best Director award at the S.O.U.L Film Festival. The recognition marks an important milestone in her career, highlighting her successful move from acting into directing. She dedicated the win to “the young kings,” underlining her mission to uplift young Black men through her art.
The short film’s success has been swift. It premiered at the South London Film Festival, where it won Best Experimental Short. It has since been selected for major international festivals including BlackStar, St. Louis, Rhode Island, and Newport Beach. Each stop has amplified the film’s reputation and Wright’s growing influence as a director.
