The actress is taking on a chilling new film role while turning heads at the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards in London.

Letitia Wright is stepping into supernatural horror with her next project, In Her Shadow. The actress will star in and executive produce the film, which follows an author drawn into a disturbing family mystery.

The announcement comes after Wright attended the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards on 5 November. For the London event, she wore a look from Prada’s spring/summer 2027 collection, bringing fashion and film together in one busy week.

A chilling new role

In In Her Shadow, Wright is set to play celebrated author Annie Cutter, whose life changes after a late-night call from police. Annie learns that her estranged sister has died, and that she had kept her young daughter locked alone in a basement for five years. Annie decides to adopt her niece, hoping to give the child a home. But as she gets to know her, she begins to question why her sister kept the girl hidden.

The supernatural horror story promises a tense family mystery, with Annie left to confront the possibility that her sister feared the child for a reason.

British filmmaker Rowan Athale, whose credits include Gangs of London, wrote the film and will direct it. Wright will also serve as an executive producer through her company, 3:16 Productions.

The project is currently in pre-production, and Bankside Films is launching worldwide sales. A release date has not yet been announced.

Wright is known for playing Shuri in Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Her credits also include Small Axe and Black Mirror. With In Her Shadow, she is adding another genre to a career that has moved between major film franchises, television drama and independent projects.

Prada at the Women of the Year Awards

Before the film announcement, Wright joined guests at Harper’s Bazaar UK’s Women of the Year Awards at Claridge’s in London. She wore a black-and-white Prada look from the fashion house’s spring/summer 2027 collection. The appearance added another chapter to Wright’s relationship with the brand, which she has worn on several major red carpets.

The annual awards celebrate women across film, fashion, art, sport and other areas of culture. This year’s ceremony brought together performers and creatives for an evening recognising their work and influence.
