Jennifer Meyer Steps Out With New Husband Geoffrey Ogunlesi

Jennifer Meyer, 49, and Geoffrey Ogunlesi, 34, have made their first public appearance as husband and wife, just one day after tying the knot in Hawaii.

The newlyweds were photographed walking barefoot on the beach, holding hands and looking very much like people enjoying being newly married. Meyer also flashed the emerald-cut diamond engagement ring she first debuted after their 2024 engagement, reportedly worth around $500,000. 

Naturally, because Ogunlesi is the son of Nigerian billionaire Adebayo Ogunlesi, some corners of the internet have already reduced Jennifer to the most predictable label available: gold digger. Except that argument falls apart almost immediately.

Meyer did not enter this marriage as some unknown woman who suddenly stumbled into wealth. She is the daughter of former Universal Studios president and CAA co-founder Ron Meyer, grew up deeply connected to Hollywood, and has spent years building Jennifer Meyer Jewelry, a brand worn by celebrities including Keke Palmer, Reese Witherspoon and Meghan Sussex.

And while we are here, can we stop infantilising wealthy men as though they are helpless children incapable of deciding who they want to marry? Maybe they actually love each other.

There is also something genuinely lovely about the way Meyer and Tobey Maguire have handled the transition. The former couple separated in 2016 and officially terminated their marriage on October 1 this year, after a long-running divorce process. Maguire then went on to officiate Meyer’s October 10 wedding to Ogunlesi.  

That is unconventional, but it also says a lot about how seriously they seem to take the idea of family continuing even after a marriage ends.

Meyer has repeatedly described Maguire as one of her closest friends, and they share two children, Ruby and Otis. Meyer and Ogunlesi also welcomed a baby daughter earlier this year.

And one small correction to the jokes online: the end of their marriage did not necessarily mean every financial issue had already been resolved. Court documents showed that Meyer and Maguire initially agreed only to terminate their marital status, while a private judge handled remaining issues in their broader settlement.

Honestly, this is one of those celebrity family arrangements that sounds messy on paper and surprisingly healthy in practice. An ex-husband officiating the wedding, the children present, a new baby, and everyone apparently getting along? Good for them.
