The adaptation has since hit problems. Director Jason Reitman reportedly left the project in August 2025 following creative differences. Reports at the time said Apple gave the production a short window to find a replacement before risking a longer delay.

Then, in July 2026, Aniston reportedly exited because of scheduling conflicts. Apple has not announced that the series is cancelled, but the departures have left its future uncertain.
