Well, well, well. Love Island USA actually did the right thing for once. Vasana Montgomery, one of the newly announced cast members for season eight, has already been shown the villa door, before she even set foot inside. The reason? Videos surfaced online appearing to show her using the n‑word. Not once. Twice.
In one clip, she allegedly raps along to a song using the slur. In another, she yells it out while a friend plays an arcade game. Classy. Production sources tell TMZ she is out. Good riddance.
Here is what TMZ reported.
Videos surfaced online which appear to show the contestant from Beaverton, Oregon using the n‑word.
In one clip, Montgomery appears to say it while rapping along to a song … while, in another, she yells it out while her friend is playing an arcade game.
Production sources tell TMZ … Vasana will no longer be on the show.
This isn’t the first time “Love Island USA” producers have had to deal with a cast member allegedly saying racist remarks. Last year Yulissa Escobar was kicked off the show after dropping the n‑word on multiple podcast clips.

Frankly, there is no excuse. None. Vasana Montgomery thought those private videos would never see the light of day. She thought wrong. And now she is out before she ever got to strut across the villa in a bikini. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
The first clip? Rapping along to a song. That tired defence has been used a million times, “I was just quoting the lyrics.” As if that makes it okay for a non‑Black person to throw around a slur with centuries of violence and dehumanisation behind it. The second clip? Just yelling it out for fun while playing an arcade game. There was no song or excuse, just pure ugliness.
I am glad the producers acted quickly. But let’s not pretend this is a one‑off. Last season, Yulissa Escobar was kicked off for the exact same reason, using the n‑word in podcast clips. The show clearly has a vetting problem. How many times does this have to happen before they start digging deeper into contestants’ social media and private videos before announcing the cast?
And speaking of the cast, this season’s lineup has been a mess from the start. Another contestant, Kenzie Annis, caught flak for posing with people wearing MAGA attire. Her family rushed to do damage control, insisting she is “not a Trumper.” Sure, Jan. But the pattern is hard to ignore: the show keeps casting people with questionable judgment, and then acts surprised when the internet does its job.

Final thoughts
Here is the thing. Blackness is centered in this conversation. It always should be. There is no excusing the use of that word, not by Vasana, not by anyone. The mods of any decent online space will tell you the same: we do not platform racism, and we do not entertain excuses.
Vasana Montgomery is not a victim. She is not being “canceled.” She is facing the consequences of her own actions. Vasana chose to use a racial slur. She chose to film it. And now she is choosing to stay silent while the PR team scrambles.
Goodbye, Vasana. Do not let the villa door hit you on the way out. And to Love Island USA: do better. Vet your contestants properly. Because we are tired of watching you play cleanup after casting racists.
