Shannon Sharpe is facing fresh legal trouble. Less than two weeks after settling a $50 million sexual assault case with OnlyFans model Gabriella Zuniga, the Hall of Fame tight end is now the subject of another multimillion-dollar lawsuit. The latest claim stems from comments Sharpe made about a viral concert video featuring a woman and singer Usher. The situation has escalated quickly, once again putting the former NFL star and television personality under intense public scrutiny.

Viral Video Sparks Major Defamation Lawsuit

The woman behind the lawsuit, Jimalita Tillman, says she was falsely portrayed by Sharpe and his Nightcap co-host Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. The two men discussed a video that showed Tillman interacting with Usher during a concert. On their podcast, they allegedly claimed she was a married woman whose husband filed for divorce after seeing the clip. According to court filings, Tillman is not married and has never been.

She accuses both men of spreading damaging falsehoods that caused emotional distress, personal embarrassment, and professional harm. Tillman serves as global director of the Harold Washington Cultural Center in Chicago. She has appeared in national media to correct the record but says the pair continued to repeat the story. The lawsuit seeks $20 million in damages for reputational injury and ongoing distress.

Sexual Assault Case Recently Dismissed With Prejudice

The timing of the defamation suit is significant. Sharpe had only just resolved a separate high-profile case in which Gabriella Zuniga accused him of sexual assault. Filed by attorney Tony Buzbee, the $50 million lawsuit alleged abuse during what was described as a long-term, tumultuous relationship. Both parties reached a mutual resolution, and the case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. Following the settlement, Zuniga announced her retirement from OnlyFans.

Public statements from both Sharpe and Zuniga described their relationship as tumultuous but consensual. Though no admission of guilt was made, the settlement drew significant attention due to Sharpe’s rising media profile. In the wake of the fallout, ESPN parted ways with the Hall of Famer. He continues to host Nightcap, where he collaborates with athletes and entertainers on topics that blend sports with pop culture. But the scandal has become a costly reckoning. The optics of paying millions to quietly resolve allegations involving a young model, while openly joking on-air that he wouldn’t spend more than $30,000 on his own daughter’s wedding, have struck many as both hypocritical and deeply unsettling.
