Meghan Markle has become the latest victim of right-wing criticism, proving once again how divisive figures exploit her success for their narratives. Markle’s right-wing critics have launched relentless attacks on her Netflix series With Love, Meghan. The criticism isn’t about the show—it’s about Meghan herself, a biracial woman defying traditional norms and succeeding on her own terms. Yet these attacks have little to do with the show itself. Her critics focus on who she is—a biracial woman unapologetically carving her own path—and use her as a scapegoat to push their broader agendas.

The Hypocrisy of Meghan Markle’s Right-Wing Critics

Let’s call it what it is: this has little to do with the show itself and everything to do with what Meghan represents. To many on the right, they view her as a threat to the outdated ideals of tradition and societal norms, which prioritize whiteness and traditional roles. Critics like Andrew Tate and Candace Owens highlight the lengths the right-wing will go to vilify Meghan Markle. Her success challenges their worldview, making her an easy target.

Andrew Tate, a Misogynist and Alleged Abuser

Andrew Tate, Prince Andrew’s namesake, has faced similar sexual abuse allegations and boasts a long history of misogynistic rhetoric, called Meghan’s Netflix series “bullshit” and suggested he’d prefer a life-threatening illness over watching it. This is the same man who profits from toxic masculinity and builds his brand on exploiting women. Tate’s attacks reveal the hypocrisy of a man under investigation for serious crimes ridiculing a woman with no such controversies.

Candace Owens and Her Career of Black Betrayal

A good friend to Tate is Candace Owens, who labeled Meghan’s show as “contrived” and “overproduced,” calling it a display of privilege. Ironically, Owens herself built her career on controversial and divisive tactics, often targeting the Black community to gain favor with conservative audiences.

She profited handsomely from this strategy, even going as far as wearing “White Lives Matter” shirts, a direct insult to the Black Lives Matter movement that emerged in response to George Floyd’s tragic killing at the hands of the police. However, her opportunism eventually backfired. After attacking groups unwilling to tolerate her divisiveness, she faced backlash and was named Antisemite of the Year.” Since being let go from her show at The Daily Wire, Owens has struggled to maintain relevance, resorting to easy targets like Meghan Markle for clicks. The irony deepens as she recently complained about being mistreated by the Daily Mail. The same outlet notorious for its relentless smears against Meghan which she has helped to perpetuate.

Dan Wootton – The Mouthpiece of Tabloid Drama

Dan Wootton, a key player in British tabloid culture, joined the fray by labeling Meghan “inauthentic” and calling her series “fake Hollywood woketopian nonsense.” Wootton’s public criticism of Meghan Markle’s Netflix series is steeped in hypocrisy. His claim of disinterest in her life starkly contrasts with his actions—he quickly followed both of Meghan’s social media accounts after they launched. This behavior suggests not genuine disdain, but an obsession that mirrors his opportunistic career.

Wootton, a man who lost his £600K salary from GB News following allegations of workplace bullying and sexual harassment, is now confined to producing low-budget YouTube videos. His reputation has crumbled under serious accusations, including claims that two individuals tragically ended their lives as a result of his actions. Once a high-profile media figure, he has since sold his home and been sacked from every TV platform he previously dominated.

Collage of headlines about Dan Wootton, including reports of his suspension from GB News, dismissal from MailOnline, and allegations of workplace bullying and misconduct published by Byline Times.
Allegations of workplace bullying, suspension from GB News, and dismissal from MailOnline highlight the controversies surrounding the former tabloid journalist.

His disdain for Meghan Markle, therefore, seems less about authenticity or principle and more about exploiting public interest in her for clicks and profit. Wootton’s sensationalist comments and relentless targeting of Meghan reveal an individual desperate to regain relevance at any cost. The irony is palpable: a man embroiled in career-ending scandals accusing Meghan—who has no such allegations against her—of being the problem.

Meghan McCain Shows Her Disconnect from Reality

Meghan McCain criticized Meghan Markle’s Netflix series as “tone-deaf,” claiming it failed to address real issues like food deserts. Yet the irony deepens when McCain, a wealthy nepo baby, targets Markle—a self-made woman of color who built her career in an industry notorious for marginalizing Black women.

Meghan McCain claims Meghan Markle should use her platform to address systemic issues, yet Markle has consistently done so by supporting food-related charities and initiatives. Markle has worked with World Central Kitchen, helping to provide meals to those in crisis, and donating $112,000 to Feeding Britain, which tackles food insecurity in vulnerable communities. Her contributions also include supporting Mothers2Mothers, which provides nutritional support to families in need, and funding a community kitchen project in London through the Together Cookbook, which raised more than a million for the Grenfell Tower survivors. After moving to the United States, Meghan and Harry volunteered with Project Angel Food, a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering meals to individuals with serious illnesses in Los Angeles. Markle’s actions demonstrate her ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity, directly contradicting McCain’s misplaced critique.

But not only that, McCain conveniently ignores her own privilege. As the daughter of an heiress, McCain could easily contribute to addressing food insecurity herself. Instead, she seems more intent on criticizing Markle, while also staying silent about the extravagance of the British royal family during a global cost-of-living crisis.

The hypocrisy becomes even clearer when considering McCain’s own love for escapist entertainment like Real Housewives. Why shouldn’t Markle’s series offer audiences a similar reprieve? Markle’s cooking show is a reflection of her own interests and journey, not a manifesto on solving world hunger. Yet McCain singles it out, revealing more about her personal bias than any meaningful critique.

The Culture War’s Real Agenda

Relentless attacks on Meghan Markle follow an orchestrated effort to fuel a broader right-wing narrative that vilifies anyone challenging traditional molds. From the outset, Meghan’s every move has been analyzed, criticized, and dissected in ways that white counterparts like Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon escape. When these women build lifestyle brands, they’re lauded as innovative entrepreneurs. Yet critics deride Meghan, despite her middle-class roots and history of activism, for doing the same.

Donald Trump’s antagonism toward Meghan adds another layer to this coordinated assault. His comments, ranging from dismissive “good luck, Harry” remarks to accusations that Meghan has “whipped” Harry, reflect an insidious form of sexism and a disdain for anyone challenging traditional power dynamics. Trump’s dismissal of Harry’s immigration issues and Eric Trump’s sneering “no one cares” rhetoric further demonstrate the right-wing’s eagerness to exploit Meghan and Harry as symbols in their cultural war.

Donald Trump’s fixation on Meghan Markle, as a soon-to-be president targeting a private citizen, is both inappropriate and ironic given his own extensive legal troubles. From falsifying business records and defamation suits to conspiracy charges related to election interference, Trump’s criminal record is far more concerning than the actions of the individuals he targets. Rather than focusing on private citizens who have committed no crimes, Trump would do well to address the many legal and ethical issues overshadowing his political ambitions.

Meghan Markle Is A Threat to the Status Quo

Meghan’s success and advocacy challenge deep-seated narratives of race, gender, and privilege, making her a frequent target. While her white counterparts have faced criticism, it rarely matches the intense vitriol, media scrutiny, or politicization aimed at Meghan. Her position as a biracial woman who married into the British royal family and later stepped away has amplified the backlash, with criticism often unfairly directed at her personally rather than the substance of her work.

Meghan Markle is not the problem; she’s a symbol of change. Her success, her refusal to conform, and her unapologetic voice are what scare her critics the most. These aren’t about a Netflix series; they’re about a woman who dares to defy expectations and thrives in spite of relentless hate.

While her right-wing critics drown in hypocrisy and scandals of their own, Meghan remains unscathed by controversy. She continues to embody grace and strength, proving that joy, authenticity, and independence are the ultimate acts of defiance.

Let the critics rage—Meghan Markle is here to stay.
