In a move that surprised no one outside the royal press circuit and their so-called “sources,” Prince Harry has voiced his full support for Meghan’s As Ever brand. Contrary to their flagrant misinformation campaigns and the carefully curated PR spin of the so-called “working royals,” the Duke of Sussex has not been sidelined. He has not become the shadow of Meghan’s ambition. And yet just last month, outlets gleefully declared, “Prince Harry’s become Spare to Meghan Markle’s relentless ambitions,” echoing a narrative rooted more in projection than truth.
That narrative is hardly new. In the 1980s, Princess Diana’s immense popularity often eclipsed King Charles, creating visible cracks in their marriage. Diana confirmed this dynamic in her landmark BBC Panorama interview, and royal biographers noted Charles’s discomfort as crowds clamored for her, not him. But where Charles bristled at being outshone, Harry beams.

Tabloids Keep Repeating the Same Storyline
Despite the clarity of Harry’s public support, media speculation continues to cling to an outdated narrative. Some tabloids have suggested that Meghan’s business ventures and media projects come at Harry’s expense. Some cited a royal “expert” claiming Harry was unhappy about their children being mentioned in branding. Others went further, framing Meghan’s second Netflix season and new podcast as evidence that Harry had become a “spare” in her career.
These stories follow a familiar formula. They lean on anonymous sources, recycle sexist tropes, and frame Meghan as the ambitious wife whose success supposedly bruises Harry’s ego. Sound familiar? Royal history has shown us what happens when a woman dares to have more than a decorative role. The unspoken rule seems to be that a royal wife should support quietly, smile dutifully, and never eclipse her husband.
Maybe that’s what the press really means when they say Princess Catherine “never puts a foot wrong.” She never outshines the heir. The subtext is clear: a woman’s success is only acceptable if it stays smaller than her husband’s.
Then there’s the obvious wishful thinking—that Harry’s marriage might collapse like his parents’ did. But that narrative only works if you ignore Harry’s actual words—and the choices he’s made to stand beside Meghan, not in front of her.

Harry’s Support Is Loud Enough to Hear
The Duke of Sussex has spoken out many times in defense of Meghan. From releasing a rare public statement during the early days of their relationship to chronicling media abuse in his memoir Spare, Harry has not stayed silent. His recent comment about Meghan’s entrepreneurial work aligns with that ongoing commitment. He has consistently praised her vision, her work ethic, and her purpose.
This is not a man watching from the sidelines. Harry has taken on his own projects, but he continues to uplift Meghan’s work with intention and pride. The claim that Meghan is building a brand while pushing her husband away fails to stand up against the facts. If anything, their partnership appears rooted in mutual respect and shared values.
As tabloids attempt to stir division, Harry’s support sends a different message. Meghan is not a standalone figure in a story of conflict—she is part of a team. And her partner, the Duke of Sussex, has once again made it clear where he stands.

Harry and Meghan are both superstars. They are so well-matched in their outlook and energy, and clearly do not believe that the individual success of each comes at the expense of the other. That is the dynamic that the RF embraces, sadly.
