Prince Harry and Meghan Sussex will undertake a two-day humanitarian visit to Jordan this week, marking what many view as a carefully timed return to the international stage.
They will travel to Amman on Wednesday and Thursday in partnership with the World Health Organization, focusing on global health resilience and mental health support for communities affected by conflict.
Palace sources say the King and senior members of the family know about the trip, but the Sussexes are undertaking it in a private capacity rather than on behalf of the British Government.
In Jordan, the couple will join Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO, for engagements highlighting humanitarian health responses, with a particular emphasis on children and displaced families.
The programme includes visits to frontline health providers and mental health services in Amman, as well as initiatives supported financially by the Sussexes that assist with medical evacuations for children injured in the Gaza conflict. They will also tour the regional headquarters of World Central Kitchen, which coordinates food aid deliveries into Gaza.
A stop at the vast Za’atari refugee camp is expected to underscore the couple’s continuing focus on displacement, trauma recovery and community-based care for those affected by war.

According to People, the couple said their work remains rooted in support for families and young people enduring the long-term consequences of violence and instability.
The trip marks the Sussexes’ first major international engagement in nearly 18 months. Since stepping back from official royal duties in 2020, their overseas travel has followed a recognisable pattern. Tightly focused visits, often by invitation, aligned with the priorities of their charitable vehicle, Archewell Philanthropies.
During their visits to Nigeria and Colombia, the Sussexes held high-profile meetings, engaged directly with young people and championed mental health initiatives.
This latest visit continues that evolution. Harry and Meghan are nonetheless operating in a space that sits adjacent to diplomacy, partnering with multilateral bodies and positioning themselves as advocates on the global humanitarian stage.
They deliver a pointed signal. As turbulence swirls in the UK, the Sussexes move decisively onto the world stage and assert their voice in global affairs, driven, as ever, by Archewell’s guiding principle to show up, do good.
