Henry Nowak had been stabbed, and he knew he was dying. Police bodycam footage later showed officers handcuffing him after his killer, Vickrum Digwa, falsely claimed Henry had racially abused him. Officers then went on to dismiss Henry’s repeated pleas that he had been stabbed and could not breathe.

That should have started a serious national conversation. How did emergency services fail him? Why was a stabbing victim handcuffed because of an unsubstantiated allegation? How can knife crime be prevented? What does justice for Henry Nowak actually look like? Instead, the far right moved in fast.

Tommy Robinson posted angry videos framing Henry’s death as a racial murder. He claimed institutions are biased against white people and urged crowds to gather at Southampton Police Station. Lawrence Fox showed up. Far‑right organisers descended on the city. And Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, told the country to respond with “pure cold rage.”

The result was predictable. A protest turned violent, and crowds threw bottles, bricks and bins at police. Some gave Nazi salutes. Fires were started. Eleven officers and a police dog were injured, and local residents described scenes of terror. And Henry Nowak’s family, who had asked for calm, watched their son’s death become a political weapon.

Farage’s Hypocrisy Exposed

Let’s rewind to March 2021. Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens had kidnapped, raped and murdered Sarah Everard. At the time, Nigel Farage released a five‑minute video urging people not to turn her murder into attacks on all men or on the police force. He cautioned against “collective guilt” and quoted Davina McCall, saying we shouldn’t demonise an entire group.

Fast forward to June 2026. Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old white student, was stabbed to death by Vickrum Digwa, a British Sikh man who used a ceremonial knife. The killer falsely claimed racial abuse. Police handcuff the dying victim instead of treating his wounds. And Farage’s response? “Pure cold rage.” He has since doubled down, saying this is “the beginning, as large numbers of young white men believe that the police are biased against them.”

So let me get this straight. A white man rapes and murders a woman while serving as a police officer, Farage says don’t blame men or the police. A Sikh man stabs a white teenager, Farage says, blame the police, blame the system, blame everyone except the actual killer. Principles that change with the ethnicity of the accused are not principles at all.

Marvyn Harrison called this “performative and misleading,” especially the attempt to drag Black Lives Matter into a case where no Black people are involved. James O’Brien put it even more bluntly: “They hate the fact that police no longer treat ethnic minorities as the wrong ’un.” The far right has been itching for another riot, and Henry Nowak’s death gave them a pretext.

The Lie at the Heart of the Exploitation

Here is the truth the agitators won’t tell you. A Sikh guy killed a white boy. White officers ignored his dying calls because of a false racism claim. Somehow, Tommy Robinson and Nigel Farage have turned this into a narrative about Muslims and Black people.

There are no Muslims involved. There are no Black people involved. The killer is a British Sikh. The victim was white. The officers were white. The far right is exploiting a tragedy that has nothing to do with their usual enemies, because they need a story about white victimhood, and they will twist any event to fit that script.

Ash Sarkar and others have rightly pointed out the pattern of police indifference that allowed Henry to die handcuffed. There are plenty of cases where people of colour have died in police custody, their pleas dismissed. Henry Nowak is the latest injustice in a long line of fatal consequences of police failure. But the far right does not care about those other cases. They did not march for Sean Rigg, Olaseni Lewis, or the countless Black and brown people who died after being restrained or ignored. They only care when the victim is white, and they can use his death to attack the very idea of police accountability.

The Family Asked for Calm. The Far Right Chose Violence.

This was not a genuine expression of care for Henry Nowak. It was a far‑right mobilisation. The family asked people not to exploit the tragedy. The far right ignored them. The family asked for calm. The far right chose violence.

And now, Henry Nowak’s name is attached to images of burning bins, Nazi salutes, and police dogs being kicked. That is not honouring his memory. That is desecration.

The Real Question: Justice, Not Propaganda

We still need to know why the police failed Henry Nowak. Why was a stabbed teenager handcuffed instead of rushed to surgery? Why was a false racism allegation given more weight than a dying boy’s pleas? How can emergency response protocols be fixed? How can knife crime be prevented? Tommy Robinson is not needed to answer those questions. Neither is “pure cold rage.” And Nazis marching through the streets of Southampton have no place in that conversation either.

Henry Nowak deserved better from the police. He also deserved better from the politicians and agitators who used his death as a prop. His family asked for one thing: don’t exploit our son’s death for your politics. The far right heard that request and chose to riot anyway. That is exploitation. And everyone who amplified the “two-tier policing” lie, every pundit who defended the “cold rage” rhetoric, and every organiser or influencer who helped inflame tensions in Southampton bears responsibility for what followed.
