She accused SZA of being manufactured, forgettable, and undeserving of her platform, all while performing the very behavior that so many women, especially Black women in entertainment, are routinely punished for: being visible, being excellent, and being unwilling to shrink.

Instead of holding space for more than one woman’s success, Nicki weaponized her platform to dominate the conversation and drag another woman down with her. It was disappointing, but not unfamiliar.

SZA Chooses Strength Not Spectacle

SZA, on the other hand, didn’t perform her pain for the public. She asserted her peace. Her now-viral tweet reads like a manifesto: “I get bullied by millions online every day then step my ass out onna packed stadium tour where ppl show me REAL love. IN REAL LIFE. My parents are healthy and I’m the most successful I ever been. GET SOME FUCKING PERSPECTIVE n BARK AT THE WALL!!!”

Nicki’s whole online spat with SZA was due to Sza’s little astrological shrug with “Mercury retrograde” tweet. While science doesn’t back the drama planet theory (sorry stargazers), it didn’t stop fans from making it a whole vibe.

What is interesting? Sza never even used Nicki’s name. So why did Nicki choose to lash out like that?

Still, the Barbz didn’t flinch. They defended Nicki’s legacy and insisted SZA threw the first shade. Meanwhile, neutral fans watched the drama unfold like it was appointment television. But beneath the memes and mess, a real question lingered: Is Nicki Minaj okay? Because lately, she seems more focused on feuds than music, and fans are starting to notice.
