Nara Smith has spent years making motherhood look like an elaborate fashion campaign. The model and content creator regularly prepares homemade meals while wearing designer dresses, immaculate makeup and the sort of jewellery most people would remove before washing a saucepan.
She has also welcomed four children with her husband, Lucky Blue Smith. Now, at 25, she’s saying she’s finished having babies. During an appearance on Emma Grede’s Aspire podcast, released October 8, Nara then says that she intends to get her tubes tied because she doesn’t want to experience another pregnancy or postpartum period. And she sounds pretty certain about that decision.
Nara Has Never Been Quite What People Imagined
For years, Nara has been described as a traditional wife, becuase she cooks from scratch, married young, and has four small children. Her videos present domestic life as something beautiful, peaceful and almost impossibly elegant.
But here’s the thing. Nara isn’t financially dependent on her husband. She is a successful model and entrepreneur who has built an extremely lucrative career through her content. She films and edits her own videos, negotiates brand partnerships, and she has plans to expand into publishing, acting and consumer products.
During the same podcast interview, she discussed building a business that could continue growing for decades. That isn’t somebody who has abandoned her professional ambitions. That is somebody who has turned domestic aesthetics into a commercial enterprise.
And there is a substantial difference. Nara has repeatedly rejected the traditional-wife label. She has explained in several interviews that she works long hours and doesn’t consider herself part of the movement.
I think we need to recognise that distinction. A woman can enjoy cooking, motherhood and marriage without believing that every woman should organise her life around those things.
Nara Smith is pushing back against women who criticise her for marrying young and having four children. Speaking on Emma Grede’s Aspire podcast, she questioned why motherhood is used against her when she’s also building a successful business and career. https://t.co/sRk6uw0t4L

Four Children Is Already a Lot
Nara and Lucky have four children together. Rumble Honey, Slim Easy, Whimsy Lou and Fawnie Golden. Lucky also has an older daughter from a previous relationship. Nara has spent much of her adult life pregnant, recovering from childbirth or caring for very young children.
That is physically and emotionally demanding and something she said during the interview deserves more attention. She explained that discussions about having children frequently focus on pregnancy and occasionally postpartum recovery.
But people don’t always discuss what happens afterwards. The sleepless nights, toddler years, tantrums, constant demands and the challenge of meeting several children’s needs while maintaining a career.
Nara is right. There is an enormous difference between enjoying the idea of having another baby and wanting to begin the entire process again.
Nara can love her children and still decide that four is enough. Those feelings are not contradictory; they’re called evolving, and women do it all the time.

The Perfect Motherhood Image Has Limits
What I find most interesting is how Nara’s public image has evolved. Her videos remain beautiful. But she has become increasingly willing to discuss the less glamorous aspects of her life.
She has spoken about postpartum anxiety, the difficulties of balancing work and motherhood, and the importance of accepting help.
That makes her more interesting than the perfectly dressed woman quietly preparing dinner. Because the reality is that even somebody with considerable financial resources can find motherhood exhausting.
And perhaps the most useful thing Nara can do with her platform is acknowledge that. She doesn’t need another baby to prove that she loves being a mother.
She doesn’t need to fit anybody else’s definition of a traditional wife. And she doesn’t need to explain why four children are enough. She’s allowed to decide that her family is complete. Even if she still intends to make every ingredient in the kitchen from scratch.
