Marvel Studios will film Avengers: Doomsday at Windsor Great Park this summer. The deal, reportedly worth several million pounds, gives the production access to Crown Estate land. Around 300 cast and crew members are expected on site. King Charles, as Ranger of the park, plays a direct role in approving arrangements like this. Under the Sovereign Grant, he receives 25 percent of the Crown Estate’s annual profits. That means a portion of Marvel’s payment will land in the monarch’s pocket.

Yet the news coverage was glowing. Reports highlighted the scale of the production and the benefits to Windsor’s upkeep. No one questioned whether the royal family was profiting from Hollywood. No tabloid accused the King of undermining royal dignity. Meanwhile, Meghan Sussex was ridiculed for filming in a rented kitchen just months ago. Her crime? Launching a lifestyle brand with handmade jam.

Windsor Great Park belongs to the Crown Estate, which operates as a public asset. But King Charles personally benefits from its profits through the Sovereign Grant. So while Marvel films its blockbuster, the King receives a cut. And still, the press treats it as normal. They frame it as good for heritage, good for business, and good for Britain.

Our Take on the Hypocrisy of Marvel Paying King Charles Millions for Windsor

When Harry and Meghan’s commercial ventures were published, they were accused of exploiting their titles. Tabloids said they betrayed the royal family by seeking financial independence. Meghan, in particular, faced harsh personal attacks over branding, privacy, and her marriage.

Now, Marvel is funding a major production on royal land, and no one blinks. No headlines suggest the Windsors are selling out. No commentators are asking whether King Charles is cashing in on royal status. In fact, last week’s announcement of his Netflix documentary with Idris Elba was met with applause by the same critics.

This is the definition of a double standard. Meghan makes jam, and she’s a grifter. Charles leases land to a superhero franchise and also sells jam, and he’s preserving tradition.
