Jonathan Bailey, best known for his roles in Bridgerton and Wicked, has announced he will take a break from acting next year to dedicate his time to The Shameless Fund, his charity supporting LGBTQ+ communities. The move highlights a shift in focus for the actor, who has long balanced a successful career with outspoken activism.

Bailey Turns Spotlight Toward Activism with Shameless Fund and Cubitts Collaboration

Bailey revealed his decision in a conversation with GQ, explaining:

“With everything happening in the world right now, I’m going to stop acting for a bit next year and just focus on the Shameless Fund.”

The fund was launched to address the lack of financial support for LGBTQ+ initiatives in the UK. It seeks to close a stark gap: only one penny of every £100 raised goes directly to LGBTQ+ causes. Bailey is now prioritizing the hiring of staff and long-term planning to expand the fund’s reach.

His latest collaboration with Cubitts, a London eyewear brand, underscores his approach to blending creativity with activism. Inspired by his Jurassic World character, Dr. Henry Loomis, Bailey’s new hexagonal sunglasses come with rose-tinted lenses and a titanium case lined in pink, a nod to the Shameless Fund’s identity. More than just a fashion statement, Bailey sees the project as a way to raise awareness while supporting meaningful change.

Bailey’s advocacy extends well beyond his own initiative. He has been a vocal supporter of organizations including the Albert Kennedy Trust, Stonewall, The Trevor Project, the It Gets Better Project, OutRight Action International, and Switchboard LGBTQ+ Helpline. His consistent efforts reflect a deep commitment to equality and representation, both on and off screen.

After three years of nonstop work, Bailey’s pause marks both a personal reset and a professional turning point. By stepping back from acting, he is choosing to amplify his role as an activist, showing that visibility in the entertainment industry can be a powerful tool for social progress.
