John Boyega and Tae Heckard Appear to Confirm Their Marriage With Rings and Pounded Yam

John Boyega and Tae Heckard appear to have confirmed their marriage without an announcement, wedding exclusive or carefully staged couple portrait. Instead, Tae gave Instagram a diamond ring, part of John’s face, a cartoon drawing and one strategically placed ear. Honestly, that may be enough.

Marriage rumours began in May after Tae shared photographs showing a diamond engagement ring and gold band on her left hand. John was also spotted wearing a band. Internet detectives then noticed that the famously private pair only followed each other on Instagram.

Neither publicly confirmed anything. They simply allowed the clues to accumulate.

The Soft Launch Continues

Tae’s latest carousel began with a painfully relatable observation: making plans on both Saturday and Sunday is “diabolical.” John then appeared in the comments with remarkably married energy.

“So this is why you cook Pounded yam and egusi on Saturdays?? a tactical weapon of mass plan-canceling. I’m onto you lover,” he wrote.

John previously joked about Tae keeping them in Walmart for more than two hours. She replied that she enjoys watching him place all her “shenannies” in the cart. This does not legally confirm a marriage, but it certainly sounds like two people who have reached the domestic errands and playful bickering stage.

Followers immediately noticed the jewellery. Some celebrated the “gentle update,” while one commenter who attended a recent screening called Tae “our wife” and claimed John had been gushing about her.

The couple first appeared together publicly at Disneyland in April 2025. Since then, they have kept their relationship impressively quiet. John previously said he dates with serious intentions and values chemistry, shared goals and mutual support

Neither Tae nor John has explicitly written, “We are married,” so “appear to confirm” remains the safest description. Still, matching bands, couple photographs, shared Walmart expeditions and Nigerian food deployed to cancel weekend plans make a convincing case.
