For years, the media has pushed smear campaigns about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Every few months, a new claim emerges about their marriage, careers, or even their children. But February has not even concluded yet, and the Sussexes have dismantled some of the biggest false narratives surrounding them. The tabloids tried to write their downfall, but reality had other plans.

Smear 1: Netflix was Unhappy with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

For months, the media ran with the idea that Netflix had grown tired of Meghan. Reports painted a picture of executives losing faith in her ability to deliver content, claiming her contract was hanging by a thread. The so-called experts insisted the streaming giant had backed away after the release of Harry’s Polo documentary. Rumors swirled that Meghan’s planned cooking show was dead before it even started.

That version of events did not age well. Not only is Meghan dropping a brand-new show next month on Netflix, but she has also strengthened her relationship with the platform through her lifestyle brand As Ever. Netflix’s continued investment in Meghan’s projects makes it clear that their partnership is not only intact but actively expanding.

Instead of cutting ties, Netflix is doubling down on its collaboration with the Sussexes. The reality is simple. The media created drama where there was none, and Meghan proved them wrong by speaking directly to fans on her Instagram account.

Smear 2: The Sussexes Marriage Was Crumbling

The tabloids have spent years crafting a storyline that Meghan and Harry’s marriage is crumbling. Every small detail has been twisted into evidence of a supposed split. If Meghan attends an event alone, it means trouble. If Harry visits the UK without her, divorce is imminent. According to “anonymous sources” Meghan was already working on a tell-all book about life after their separation.

Then came the Invictus Games, and with it, the complete collapse of this narrative. Harry and Meghan could not have looked more in love. They held hands, laughed together, and shared affectionate moments in front of the cameras. Their connection was impossible to fake. Photos with children at the event reinforced their bond, showing them as a team, not a couple on the verge of collapse.

The media had spent years predicting a breakup, yet Harry and Meghan did what they always do. They lived their lives, and in the process, they exposed the lies for what they were. Tabloids have long fixated on their marriage, even pushing false claims that Meghan was planning a post-divorce tell-all, yet none of it was true.

Smear 3: Hollywood Had Shut The Sussexes Out

The media wanted people to believe that Hollywood had cast Harry and Meghan aside. Their supposed crime was ‘attacking the royal monarchy.’ Because, of course, Americans are known for their undying love of their former colonial rulers. Well, one group of Americans are anyway. Articles painted a grim picture of Sussexes future, suggesting that powerful figures had distanced themselves. Some claimed their time in the entertainment industry was over.

Meghan’s appearance at Kerry Washington’s birthday party with Jessica Alba directly contradicts claims that Hollywood has cast her out. She was not just present—she was fully engaged, celebrating alongside A-list friends. The idea that she has been frozen out ignores how the entertainment industry actually works. Meghan built her own network long before she met Harry, establishing relationships through her years on Suits and her philanthropic work. Her connections run deeper than red carpets and industry parties. Meanwhile, the Sussexes continue to be active in their community, playing a key role in Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts. They are not outsiders. They are not fading away. They are showing up, making an impact, and proving once again that the media’s version of their lives has nothing to do with reality.

Smear 4: Prince Harry Was Facing Deportation

The right-wing press created the idea that Prince Harry might be deported. After his admission of past drug use in Spare, speculation began about whether this would impact his visa. Some even went as far as to suggest his immigration records would be made public, fueling further debate.

A collage of British news headlines from the Daily Mail, Daily Express, and Camilla Tominey suggesting Prince Harry’s visa is under threat following Donald Trump’s return to office. A highlighted section reads “British Press Pushes False Claims in Sync,” connecting the articles to a larger pattern of misinformation.

Donald Trump shut down the deportation rumors himself. In an interview with the New York Post, he dismissed the idea outright, saying, “I don’t want to do that… I’ll leave him alone.” He took a swipe at Meghan, adding, “He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.” While Meghan’s critics revel in the fact that an 80-year-old, convicted felon is taking shots at a woman of color he has never met, we must stay focused on one simple fact.

Contrary to Trump grand delusion that he holds power here this, the right-wing press pushed a bizarre story that King Charles and Prince William had to intervene to stop Trump from deporting Harry, even though Trump never had that power. Harry secured his visa in early 2020 while Trump was president. His administration approved it—not Joe Biden’s.

Nile Gardiner, one of Harry’s loudest critics, insisted his immigration records needed investigation, accusing both Trump’s administration of misconduct and Biden of wrongdoing. A Trump-appointed judge ruled there was no impropriety and upheld Harry’s right to privacy. For years, critics like Gardiner pushed this narrative, only to be debunked by Trump himself.

The Media Keeps Writing Their Downfall but Harry and Meghan Keep Proving Them Wrong

The tabloids thrive on takedown stories. For years, they have spun narratives about Harry and Meghan, but none of them stand up to reality. Again and again, the couple refuses to play the media’s game, proving that speculation and smear campaigns do not define them.

Netflix did not drop Meghan. Harry was not deported. Their marriage is intact. Their children exist. Hollywood has not cast them aside. They continue to build their future on their own terms, despite endless attempts to write them off.

And with Prince Harry win against Rupert Murdoch’s empire, he exposed their tactics for what they are. The media told one story. Reality told another. And reality keeps winning.
