Prince Harry and Meghan Sussex are now part of that wider streaming picture. Paramount+ has announced a new slate of licensed documentary films set to debut later this year and into early 2027, with projects involving a range of filmmakers and producers, including Harry and Meghan.

The announcement places the Sussexes alongside names such as Lawrence Bender, Mohammed Ali Naqvi and Alysa Nahmias, and adds another platform to their growing production footprint beyond Netflix.

For the Sussexes, that is the beauty of a first-look deal: you are not locked into putting every project in one place. It gives producers room to develop projects for a preferred partner first while still allowing suitable work to find a home elsewhere if that partner passes or the project falls outside the deal.

During Girl Scout Cookie season, four driven young girls compete to become a top‑selling “Cookie Queen,” navigating ambition, friendship, and the realities of an $800 million business where innocence and enterprise collide.

Directed by Alysa Nahmias (Art & Krimes by Krimes), produced by Michael Dweck, Gregory Kershaw, Alysa Nahmias, Jennifer Sims, in association with Archewell Productions, Good Gravy Films, and the Artemis Rising Foundation. Distributed by Roadside Attractions.

The documentary had its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. (Streaming Premiere January 6, 2027)

Vital Thrills

The Media Tried to Rebrand Flexibility and Choice as Failure

Before Harry and Meghan Sussex received a first-look deal, entertainment coverage routinely treated similar agreements as signs of success. Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground secured one with Netflix. So did Will Smith. Nobody seriously framed those deals as career collapses.

But when Archewell moved to a multi-year first-look arrangement with Netflix, parts of the coverage suddenly called it a downgrade. The structure had not become less prestigious. The people involved had simply changed. Netflix itself described the agreement as a multi-year first-look deal covering Archewell’s film and television projects and said the company had additional projects in active development across several genres.

Archewell Productions still has a growing slate ahead. Meet Me at the Lake remains in development at Netflix. Cookie Queens, produced in association with Archewell Productions, is now heading to Paramount+ in January 2027. Reporting this year has also identified an adaptation of Jasmine Guillory’s The Wedding Date among Archewell’s developing projects.

The tabloids tried to sell flexibility as failure; in practice, Harry and Meghan Sussex secured exactly the kind of deal that gives producers more options, not fewer.
