Richard Eden’s latest Daily Mail piece claims there is a “sinister Establishment plot” to undermine Prince William and Kate Middleton while easing Prince Harry and Meghan Sussex back into royal life. He frames July’s aide meeting and September’s Clarence House tea as part of a calculated campaign that risks pushing the heir into an “uncomfortable corner.” The reality, however, looks far more ordinary: a family attempting tentative healing amid health crises, not a conspiracy against the future king.
Meetings Were Real but Hardly a Plot
Yes, a meeting did take place in July between senior aides for King Charles and Prince Harry at a London club. Meredith Maines, the Sussexes’ new communications chief, sat down with Tobyn Andreae, Charles’s communications secretary, and Liam Maguire, who runs Sussex PR in Britain. Photographs confirmed the encounter.
Some media outlets described it as an ‘olive branch’ during Charles’s cancer treatment—not the first move in some grand Establishment scheme. In fact, Prince Harry was very transparent about wanting to speak with his father in his BBC interview earlier this year, after losing his battle to secure security for his family when visiting the UK. What Eden casts as evidence of a shadowy plot was, in reality, a cautious attempt at dialogue between a son and his estranged father.
Eden also points to the September 10, 2025, meeting at Clarence House, Harry’s first in-person time with his father since February 2024. Harry was photographed smiling afterward, and Eden framed it as “glee” over progress toward UK schooling for Archie and Lilibet or even reclaiming a royal residence.
Yet official briefings described the 54-minute tea as “private” with no details offered. Outlets like CNN and the New York Times reported it as a personal catch-up, not a political breakthrough. Palace sources continue to stress that there will be no reversal of the 2020 Sandringham Agreement: the Sussexes cannot combine commercial ventures with royal duties. If any doubt remains, the Sussexes have given no sign of wanting to return as taxpayer-funded royals, so the Wales and their courtiers can sleep easy on that.

The Guardian Interview and Manufactured Plots
Eden points to Harry’s September Guardian profile, where he said “my conscience is clear,” and twists it into proof of defiance. He presents the line as a refusal to apologize, insisting reconciliation is impossible. The reality is different. Harry explained plainly: “You cannot have reconciliation before you have truth.” This matched the message of Spare and his lawsuits against the tabloids. It was not a rejection of peace, but a defense of speaking honestly.
Eden’s outrage over a supposed “sinister Establishment plot” is rich when set against Meghan’s experience. Since marrying Harry, Meghan has been the target of very real, very public smear campaigns from the press and even her in-laws. Just this year, even outlets like the Guardian joined tabloids like the Sun in trying to manufacture failure for her Netflix series With Love, Meghan. Before audiences even had the chance to judge it, Variety dismissed the show as an “ego trip” and the Guardian claimed she should “kiss the Netflix deal goodbye.” These stories dropped before any viewership data was available.

That smear campaign collapsed when Netflix renewed the series within days of its debut. Viewers tuned in anyway, proving the attempt to sink her reputation was doomed from the start. The truth is Meghan has faced manufactured “plots” since day one—whether it was lies about her personal life, targeted harassment online, or bad-faith reviews of her work. Eden’s attempt to brand Harry’s words as some grand conspiracy only highlights the hypocrisy. The real plots have always been aimed at Meghan.
Manufactured Drama Sells Papers
“Ever since Meghan accused unnamed senior members of the Royal Family of racism in her interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021… the Prince and Princess of Wales have bitten their tongues. The only hint of a public reaction was when a reporter shouted a question to Prince William… ‘We’re very much not a racist family,’ the future king responded with clear anger in his voice.” – Richard Eden
Eden claims the Waleses have “bitten their tongues” since Meghan’s 2021 Oprah interview, quoting William’s heated denial—“We’re very much not a racist family.” But the truth is, the so-called silent duo have never needed to speak. They have an army of royal reporters, including Eden himself, to do their talking for them.
This is the same Eden who fabricated the Archie & Eton story—a complete invention later picked up by Tom Sykes and amplified into a smear. Both men function as little more than Middleton mouthpieces, pumping out gossip to defend the heir and his consort while vilifying the Sussexes. To suggest William and Kate have remained quiet victims while a “sinister plot” unfolds is laughable. They are backed by the most powerful media networks in Britain and abroad, which work daily to shield their laziness and deflect scrutiny toward Harry and Meghan.
Eden is not exposing an Establishment plot. He is part of it. Eden feigns outrage to justify running sensationalized copy for profit in support of William and Kate. The real plot is not Charles’s tea with Harry, but the press machine that props up William and Kate while endlessly fabricating outrage against the Sussexes.

Does Harry need to get permission from royal reporters or even William before he can see his own father?? 🤔 I mean that’s what they are alluding to otherwise why are they commenting. What does Harry seeing his father have to do with William? 🤷♀️ it’s his father too though if it was me I would of cut him off after he took my security away .Harry is too good
I wouldn’t believe anything that ANY of those so called journalists at the daily fail have to say ,at all. If they ever start to write the truth about the monarchy and write unbiased articles about people of a different culture then It will definitely be Revelation coming to pass. As a side note neither Meghan or Harry ever accused the royal family of being racist, and that liar Eden knows it. Pity Pinocchio is just a fairy tale !!!!!
That Richard Eden is a pity of a man. I simply feel.sorry for him.
Eden, Sykes and Clarkson need to ask why a middle- aged couple cannot function without numerous people holding their hands! They will be fifty soon and still in training!!! LOL
