Singer D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, has canceled his remaining U.S. shows and several European dates after Los Angeles police discovered the decomposed body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas in a Tesla registered to him. The case has placed the 20-year-old artist at the center of a homicide investigation that has already reshaped the trajectory of his career.

The Discovery and Police Investigation

Authorities said workers at a Hollywood impound lot noticed a strong odor on September 8 and found Rivas, who had been missing since April 2024. They had towed the Tesla days earlier and traced it to Burke. Officers identified the body as Rivas and opened a wide-reaching investigation into her death.

On September 17, detectives executed a search warrant at a Hollywood Hills residence associated with Burke. They removed several electronic devices, including a computer, in search of evidence connected to the case. Police have stated that Burke is cooperating with investigators and has not been charged with a crime. The cause and manner of Rivas’s death remain under review.

Canceled Shows and Halted Promotion

Within days of the discovery, D4vd’s tour began to unravel. Venues and ticketing websites removed scheduled performances in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Ticketmaster marked the shows as canceled, and promoters pulled European dates announced for October from listings.

Interscope Records, which had backed Burke since his viral breakout in 2022, suspended all promotional activity linked to him. Planned releases were delayed, and collaborators including Kali Uchis stepped back from joint projects. The momentum of a fast-rising career has now been replaced by uncertainty.

Public Scrutiny and Media Attention

The case has drawn widespread coverage across international outlets. Mainstream reports have underscored that Burke has not been accused of wrongdoing, while speculation on social media has intensified. The chilling coincidence of his song “Romantic Homicide” climbing streaming charts has only fueled debate online.

For fans, the abrupt cancellation of shows underscored the seriousness of the investigation. Critics now frame the case as a flashpoint in conversations about celebrity accountability and the music industry’s role when artists face criminal investigations.
