If you needed a little joy injected into your Monday scrolling, Meghan Sussex delivered in the most wholesome way possible. The Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram on Easter Sunday to share a series of clips of six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet enjoying the holiday in what can only be described as the most idyllic California garden setting imaginable.
The footage is genuinely lovely. Lilibet, resplendent in a pink floral dress and a pair of bunny ears, trotted barefoot across the grass, her long red hair catching the sunlight, clutching two stuffed animals like the absolute four-year-old she is. Archie, meanwhile, was all serious artistic concentration as he worked the “Dinomazing Egg Decorator”, a spinning contraption that stripes eggs, because of course, the Sussex children have the best Easter gadgets. The siblings tore across the lawn together, Easter baskets in hand, doing exactly what children do best on Easter morning.
This Is What Harry and Meghan Were Protecting All Along
What makes the clips feel so warm and lived-in is the setting itself, olive trees, a koi pond, and a chicken coop whose residents apparently also got an Easter treat in the form of fresh lettuce. This is not a staged photo op. This is a family that has quietly and deliberately built something genuinely beautiful in California, and these little windows into it feel earned rather than performed.

There’s also something rather full-circle about all of this. Cast your mind back to the Netflix documentary, where a very pregnant Meghan was setting up an Easter egg hunt in anticipation of the baby she was carrying. That baby is now the barefoot, bunny-eared four-year-old tearing around the garden. If that doesn’t make your heart clench just a little, you may want to check your pulse.
Harry and Meghan have been raising Archie and Lilibet largely away from the glare of royal scrutiny since stepping back from their senior roles in 2020, and moments like these are a reminder of exactly what they were protecting. Two children, a garden, some chickens, a dog, and a spinning egg decorator. Simple, joyful, theirs.
