Former UK government minister Peter Mandelson has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, police have confirmed.
The 72-year-old, who served in multiple Cabinet roles including business secretary and later as UK ambassador to the United States, was detained at an address in Camden on Monday. He was taken to a London police station for questioning.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said the arrest follows search warrants executed at two properties in Wiltshire and Camden.
“Officers have arrested a 72-year-old man on suspicion of misconduct in public office,” the spokesperson said.
“He was arrested at an address in Camden on Monday, 23 February and has been taken to a London police station for interview. This follows search warrants at two addresses in the Wiltshire and Camden areas.”
The arrest relates to allegations that Mandelson passed information to financier Jeffrey Epstein during his time as business secretary. Epstein, who died in 2019, was convicted of sex offences and accused of abuse involving minors.
Police have not disclosed further details about the allegations or any potential charges at this time.
The arrest of Peter Mandelson follows last week’s arrest of Prince Andrew, as investigations linked to Jeffrey Epstein continue to widen. Both men previously acknowledged contact with Epstein, though each has denied wrongdoing. Andrew’s detention has intensified scrutiny around others who moved within the same circles, placing Mandelson’s arrest in a broader context of expanding inquiries.
