Meghan Sussex has apparently decided that Christmas chocolate should come with cashmere, silk and a frankly extraordinary amount of diamonds.
To launch As Ever’s first Advent calendar, Meghan appeared in a soft cream sweater, an evergreen silk skirt and pale ballet flats while sitting beside the illustrated chocolate calendar inspired by her Montecito home and garden. It is exactly the sort of deceptively simple outfit Meghan does well: neutral knitwear, fluid fabric, a similar polished ballet-flat look and jewellery that costs considerably more than the clothes.

The limited-edition As Ever x Compartés Advent Calendar costs $148 and contains 24 handcrafted chocolates. The assortment includes flavours inspired by As Ever’s strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and orange marmalade spreads, alongside a dark chocolate ganache truffle and a chocolate finished with the brand’s flower sprinkles. Each piece carries a countdown number based on Meghan’s handwriting and finished in edible gold lustre.
Meghan’s Cashmere and Silk Combination Is Peak Meghan
For the campaign images, Meghan wore a cream crewneck sweater by CO with an olive-green Argent Bias Midi Skirt. The combination works because neither piece is particularly complicated. The knit is relaxed and the skirt gives the whole outfit just enough movement and shine to make it feel dressed up for the holidays.
If you like the same long, fluid silhouette but want another option, the Barb Bias Ankle Skirt gives you a similar look.
The cream sweater is equally easy to replicate. Meghan’s exact CO knit reportedly retailed around $695, but you do not necessarily need the exact piece to get the look.
The Lisa Yang Sony Cashmere Sweater has the same clean, luxurious simplicity.
There are also the Neo Parksville Cashmere Sweater and Corri Silk-Blend Sweater if you want the same quiet-neutral formula without chasing Meghan’s exact sweater.
The Ballet Flats Are Where Things Get Interesting
Meghan finished the outfit with powder-pink Aquazzura Voile ballet flats, a satin-and-mesh style that is sheer enough to make a basic ballet flat feel a little more special. Town & Country identified them as a past-season Aquazzura style that can still be found through some retailers. Aquazzura Voile Ballet Flats Worn by Meghan Sussex. They are beautiful. They are also reportedly around $1,400.
Fortunately, transparent and mesh ballet flats are no longer difficult to find. The Loeffler Randall Leonie Grosgrain-Trimmed Satin Ballet Flats give you a similarly delicate, polished effect.
And if you want something a little more decorative, the Magda Butrym Embroidered Mesh Ballet Flats lean into the sheer trend with more texture.
And Then Meghan Added the Diamonds
This is where the apparently simple outfit stopped being simple. Harper’s Bazaar identified Meghan’s necklace as a Jennifer Meyer Large Double Dome Tennis Necklace, valued at about $61,250, while her Logan Hollowell Water Drop Solitaire Studs were valued at more than $5,000.
Yes. The jewellery alone costs more than many cars.
Thankfully, this is also the easiest part of the look to reinterpret. If you like the drop-diamond effect, Dorsey’s 14k Illusion Huggies with pear-cut lab diamonds deliver plenty of sparkle without entering Jennifer Meyer territory.
For something smaller, the Mejuri Lab Grown Sapphire Marquise Cut Studs offer the same delicate jewellery feel.
The Heaven Mayhem Stretch Earrings are another way to bring some statement shine to the look for considerably less than fine-diamond prices. And I particularly like the Roxanne Assoulin Floating Spark Earrings if you want something that still feels playful rather than like a literal copy.
Meghan’s Cartier Watch Is the Quiet Luxury Flex
Meghan also wore Princess Diana’s gold Cartier Tank Française, one of the most recognisable pieces in her jewellery collection. If you want the same Cartier look, the current small Tank Française in 18-karat gold offers the closest luxury option. The small 18-karat gold version has the same clean rectangular face and bracelet-style finish that makes the Tank easy to wear with everything from denim to evening clothes.
If Cartier pricing is not remotely happening, there are much easier ways to get the same slim gold-watch look. The Cendre Kelly Watch is another strong option if you want something minimal and jewellery-like. At $161, it keeps the gold bracelet effect without drifting into heirloom-watch territory.
The Mayamar x Invicta Ladies Watch has a petite 15mm case and polished gold finish for a fraction of the price.
The Cartier is obviously the investment piece. But if what you really like is the small gold case, polished bracelet and vintage feel, both alternatives get you surprisingly close to the mood without requiring Cartier money.
The Outfit Is Really a Lesson in Mixing High and Low
What makes Meghan’s campaign look useful from a shopping perspective is that you do not actually need every exact piece.
The formula is simple: cream knit, silky green skirt, delicate ballet flats and one or two pieces of sparkly jewellery.
You can spend tens of thousands recreating Meghan’s diamonds or simply borrow the proportions and colour palette. The latter is probably more realistic for most of us.
And if you are going to copy anything directly from the campaign, the most literal purchase is not the necklace.
It is the chocolate. The As Ever x Compartés Advent Calendar contains 24 chocolates inspired by Meghan’s Montecito garden and As Ever flavours, all housed inside a keepsake calendar illustrated to resemble the Sussexes’ California home.
Meghan may be selling chocolate, but the campaign also happens to be a very effective argument for cream cashmere, silk skirts and ballet flats. The diamonds remain optional.
