Adjoa Andoh says she just wrapped Bridgerton Season 4 and is set to appear in a second season of Queen Charlotte.

Bridgerton actress Adjoa Andoh may have just dropped a major clue about Queen Charlotte Season 2. While accepting the Maximo Excellence Award at Italy’s Global Series Festival, Andoh told the audience she’ll be appearing in a second season of the Bridgerton spin-off, sparking online excitement. But there’s a catch: Netflix hasn’t confirmed anything.

Queen Charlotte was originally billed as a limited series, with Shonda Rhimes calling the first season a “specific, closed-ended story.” As recently as April 2024, Rhimes told Variety: “I don’t want to make a second season of Queen Charlotte, and you’re going to be like, ‘Well, that was not that great.’”

Our Take

Andoh’s remarks have reignited speculation about who the next titular romance could center on. Fans are debating everything from Brimsley and Reynolds to a prequel for Violet Bridgerton. Our vote? Lady Danbury.

Lady Danbury’s Season 1 arc was powerful but painful, from surviving an abusive marriage to a secret affair that still haunts her in Bridgerton’s present timeline. A second-chance love story would be radical, rich, and well-earned.

Alternatively, shifting focus to the children of Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury would finally expand the generational diversity in the franchise. So far, only the white Bridgertons and Featheringtons get that kind of long-form storytelling.

Lady Danbury deserves love, not just loyalty. Her character has carried emotional weight across both Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte, yet her personal happiness remains elusive. A second season is a chance to change that. Fans want joy, romance, and representation. Let’s hope Netflix is listening because whether Season 2 happens or not, one thing is clear: audiences are ready for more stories that center Black and mixed-race characters, not just as sidekicks, but as leads with legacy.
