Queen Charlotte was originally billed as a limited series, with Shonda Rhimes calling the first season a “specific, closed-ended story.” As recently as April 2024, Rhimes told Variety: “I don’t want to make a second season of Queen Charlotte, and you’re going to be like, ‘Well, that was not that great.’”

Alternatively, shifting focus to the children of Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury would finally expand the generational diversity in the franchise. So far, only the white Bridgertons and Featheringtons get that kind of long-form storytelling.

Lady Danbury deserves love, not just loyalty. Her character has carried emotional weight across both Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte, yet her personal happiness remains elusive. A second season is a chance to change that. Fans want joy, romance, and representation.
